Annual Event Overview

Coffee Morning

– 9 hole Canadian foursomes competition open to 9 & 18 hole members
– Decision by vote to decide on the charity for the year
– Collection of cash donations for trophies for the year (non-compulsory)
– Usually held in late January each year

RCC Club Open Day

– Saturday competition
– Usually open to all members – 5,6 & 7 day

Betty Hebb Day

– Traditional opening day for the year’s ladies competitions
– Usually held in early February
– 4bbb stableford comp. followed by lunch (entry form at pro shop)
– Open to 9 hole & 18 hole members (separate competitions)
– Perpetual trophy awarded

Club Championships

– Usually held on 3 consecutive Saturdays in February
– Board event open to all financial members (5,6 & 7 day)
– Grades are A, B, C & senior (over 70)
– Both gross and nett events – cumulative over 3 weeks
– Stroke event except C grade which is stableford (no gross C grade)                               

Blind & Vision Impaired Day

– Usual Tuesday competition in mid February
– Trophy donated by B&VI Assoc

Matchplay Championships – follow the Club Championships on Saturdays

– A, B & C grades
– Played by top 8 players in each grade over 3 weeks using matchplay

Committee Plate– aggregate (cumulative) score over 3 stableford rounds

 – Usually held in March, April & May
–  Trophy presented on Presentation Night to individual winner
–  Entered by payment of $1 at pro shop on first round (on top of usual comp.fee)
–  Cash prize consists of sum of entry fees (awarded with trophy)

RCC Women’s Open Day

– Usually held in mid March on a Tuesday
– 4bbb stableford comp. followed by lunch (entry form at pro shop)
– Open to non-members (guests & visitors from other clubs)
– Perpetual trophy awarded

Par Trophy – Coral McCormack Par Trophy presented on Presentation Night to individual winner

– Aggregate (cumulative) score over 3 par rounds
– Usually held in March, April & May
– Entered by payment of $1 at pro shop on first round (on top of usual comp.fee)
– Cash prize consists of sum of entry fees (awarded with trophy)

Golden Putter – major event using both courses & open to members & guests
 – Annual charity day
 – 4bbb stableford comp. followed by lunch (entry form in pro shop)
 – Prizes awarded to best score on each course plus best score overall
 – Major prize is jewelry (previously 2 golden putters)

Mid-week Club Championships – usually held on 2 consecutive Tuesdays in May

– Board event open to all financial members (5,6 & 7 day)
– Grades are A, B, C & senior (over 70)
– Both gross and nett events – cumulative over 3 weeks
– Stroke event except C grade which is stableford (no gross C)

Memorial Day – June Knox trophy

– Held to commemorate all our women golfing members who have passed away
– Wear something yellow in remembrance
– Usual Tuesday competition

Grandmothers Trophy – donated by Pam Fisher & Jenny Johanssen in memory of their family’s long history with RCC

– Open to all 18 hole lady members but winner must be a grandmother
– Usually held later in the season  

Captain’s Draw – 4 person Ambrose drop-out competition

– Teams selected by Captain to comprise A,B,C & D grades
– Fun day intended to mix players of different h/c to meet someone new
– Competition followed by lunch (entry form in pro shop)
– Usually held later in the season

Captain vs President Perpetual Shield – perpetual trophy

– Usually held in September on a Tuesday
– Players are randomly allocated to one of two teams by pro shop

Medallist Playoff – Sue Giles Medal of Medallists trophy for Tuesday event

– Played by Monthly Medal winners from preceding 12 months
– Played at the same time as October monthly medal

Senior Goblet – played on same day as Medal of Medallist (October monthly medal)

– 70 years and over

Tee Off for Breast Cancer – donations to charity

– Teams of 4 playing individual stableford with separate “pink ball event”
– Wear pink on the day
– Open to both 9 & 18 hole members (playing on different courses)

RCC Women’s Guest Day – usually held in October

– Open to 18 hole members & their guests with GA h/c
– 4bbb stableford comp. followed by lunch (entry form at pro shop)
– Members are encouraged to invite a guest, but 2 members may play together

RCC Club Mixed Foursomes – played on Sundays

Women’s Foursomes Championships – pairs event played over 2 consecutive Tuesdays in October

– Board event open to all 18 hole members
– Alternate competition available
– Played in 6’s

RCC Invitational Challenge Bowl – played at RCC, usually in October each year on a Monday

– Traditionally, RCC Club Champions are invited to form the team to defend the RCC Bowl against teams from other clubs who are trying to win it
– Teams are 2 pairs who play 4BBB stableford aggregate

Oaks Day – Fun day – usually has a hat competition

– 4 person Ambrose competition followed by a light lunch (entry form at pro shop)

Presentation Night – annual presentation of major awards

  – Usually includes a dinner

Women’s Annual General Meeting – usually held on a weekday during November

– Elects members of the next year’s women’s committee
– Open to all financial female club members

Vice-Captain’s Fun Day & Committee Appreciation Day

– End of season fun day organized by vice-captain
– Usually held in late November
– Usually followed by a light lunch (entry form at pro shop)

Summer Cup – aggregate (cumulative) of 3 stableford rounds

– Usually held in December and January (subsequent year)
– Ellie Rogers Summer Cup presented at Presentation Night to individual winner
– Entered by payment of $1 at pro shop on first round (on top of usual comp.fee)
– Cash prize consists of sum of entry fees (awarded with trophy)

Mid-week Monthly Medal – major competition each month usually on first Tuesday of each month

– Stroke play
– Count putts
– Played on front 9 (start on 1st)
– Stableford format offered as alternative comp on back 9 (start on 10th)

Saturday Monthly Medal – major competition each month usually on first Saturday of each month

– Stroke play except winter months (J,J,A) have stableford
– Count putts except winter months
